David Michalenka - Managing Partner
David Michalenka has been working with computers since the age of 12. Before starting Terrapin, David was employed by a successful consumer software company. His involvement in their marketing & production departments sparked the idea of starting his own business. Since 1999, Dave has been expanding his knowledge of graphic design, ColdFusion programming and marketing strategies and putting them to use for our clients. Beyond Terrapin, Dave’s hobbies include photography, cooking & gardening
Reggie Linsao - Managing Partner
As one of the founders of Terrapin Art & Design, Reggie Linsao has dedicated himself to understanding the marketing and design challenges for small businesses today (both online and off). Before Terrapin, Reggie worked in Product Development for a large multinational firm where he honed his ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively with others overseas. A member of the RI Audubon Society, Reggie enjoys nature photography, foreign films and travel in his spare time.
Lee Him - Director of Business Development
Lee Him heads the Business Development Team. Their primary mission is to provide the Terrapin Insite concept to help area businesses gain vision and executable strategies when harnessing the awesome power of the Internet. Lee rounds out Terrapin with leadership background from the United States Marine Corps as well as management and corporate sales experience from a Fortune 50 company. On his off time, Lee enjoys developing his love of golf, skiing and spending time in nature with his family and friends.

Where did the name Terrapin come from?
Reggie: The name Terrapin actually comes from the Grateful Dead album/song Terrapin Station. I became a fan of the Dead in college and soon introduced Dave to their creative brand of jam music.
Dave: When Reggie and I were deciding on a name for our company we knew it had to be a reference to the Dead since they were such a big influence on us. It took a while, but we finally settled on Terrapin because the song itself tells a story… and in many ways that’s what we do for our clients.
How did you get started in the web business?
Dave: I was working for a software developer and the web was going to be a big part of their business. Being employee #3, I was told that I could take any direction I wanted within the company, so I chose to learn about graphic design & building websites. When the opportunity presented itself to start a business of my own, I went for it… and I thought who better than Reggie to help get things off the ground.
Reggie: When Dave approached me with the idea of starting our own company, I was a little hesitant at first. I was working at my first job out of college and things were going well. So I started off with Terrapin on a part-time basis working at night. After a few years of hard work, the company was in a position to support both Dave and I financially. So I came to work full-time and have not looked back.
So you offer print services too?
Lee: When we first started out, our initial direction was the web. We began to work with smaller clients and even some startup companies and they need more than just a website. So it was a natural progression for us to get into print design.
Reggie: We started out with the basics… logo design, business cards, letterhead. Over the past few years we’ve really added to the list with display ads, product packaging, brochures, even billboards. If you want your logo on something, we can handle it for you these days.
Lee: Unlike most web designers who just build you a site, we can show you how to drive traffic to it using print marketing. It’s a potent 1-2 punch and many of our clients have reaped the benefits.
Who does all the work?
Reggie: We definitely agree with the adage “if you want something done right…”. 99% of the project work is done in house by Dave or I. Everything from page design to coding web pages, taking photos for the layouts even writing the text content. We do it all!
Dave: You’ll often hear talk about a consistent image & message. Keeping most of the work in house, allows us to maintain consistency for our clients
